What to Expect at Our Services
Christian Science church services are always open to everyone. They are conducted by Readers who have been elected by the membership.
On Sundays, the sermon is exactly the same in all Christian Science churches around the world. This sermon is known as the Bible Lesson, which is composed of a unique set of readings from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures that Christian Scientists study throughout the week. No two Bible Lessons are identical, and there's always something new to study.
Wednesday meetings are less formal gatherings, with about half of the hour reserved for testimonials from the congregation. Don't be surprised if there are sometimes moments of silence and prayer during this part of the meeting. People will stand up and share experiences of healing in their life as they feel inspired by the Spirit. The other half of the meeting will be readings on a topic prepared by the First Reader.
Youth (up to age 20) typically prefer to attend Sunday School during the hour-long Sunday service. Small, interactive classes allow children to discover how the Bible remains practical today and how a spiritual foundation makes them stronger students, athletes, artists, and citizens. Childcare is available for infants and toddlers too young for Sunday School.
We welcome you to find out for yourself how Christian healing is as relevant to our lives today as it was two millennia ago. Visit us at a church near you!
